Yes, and it’s included in every installation at no extra charge. We take out the old units, load them, and haul everything off the same day we finish. You don’t need to rent a dumpster or make a landfill run when we drive away; there’s nothing left in your driveway.
No. Tear-out, haul-away, and disposal are built into your quoted price. We call this out because some quotes leave disposal as a separate line item, or leave the old units stacked at the kerb. Your written estimate from us is the full number.
We lay drop cloths and floor protection along every work path, mask off the interior side of each opening to contain dust, and move or cover furniture near the windows. Outside, we protect landscaping below the openings. Each work area is swept and vacuumed before we leave, including a magnetic sweep for stray fasteners.
No. We work one opening at a time and never remove more than we can close up the same day. An insert window is typically out and replaced within an hour. That’s how we work through Iowa winters without leaving your home exposed.
We separate materials wherever recycling is available in Central Iowa. Glass, vinyl, aluminium, and steel each go where they can be processed. What can’t be recycled goes to a licensed disposal facility. Occasionally, a unit is in good enough condition to be donated instead.
It can be. Homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint, and disturbing painted surfaces during window removal can release lead dust. The EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting rule sets out how this work must be done. Tell us your home’s age when you book, and we’ll walk you through how we handle it.
Very little. Take down curtains, blinds, and window hardware, clear about three feet in front of each window, and move breakables off nearby sills. If you have a security system with window sensors, let your provider know in advance. We handle everything else.
